Toxic Much?

You may or may not have the strength to cut communication with the toxic people in your life, right now, but there is hope! I know how it feels to realize some of the people in your life are bringing you down, holding you back and in general, making your life miserable.

Sometimes it's a long road to become strong enough to cut ties with those that are constantly negative and make you feel worthless or unappreciated. The best thing you could ever do for yourself is to cut the ties that bind.  Sometimes we have to struggle through the storm and we aren't delivered from the situation immediately and it's a long hard road, I get it! Until we are delivered from the poisonous relationship, we must grow spiritually and mentally so we can react differently.

Once, to get the toxic out of my life, I lost my job because I walked out. After suffering under years of dominance and narcissism I decided I wasn't going to put up with the abuse. I hadn't meant to walk out that day, but when I protested the behavior...they told me to leave, so I did.

Many years ago, I cut off all communication with a group of toxic friends. I was young and easily influenced, I simply did not have the strength to remain in their company and not abuse drugs and alcohol like they did on a daily basis, so, I ended the relationships. My stomach churned every time the phone rang...but, I remained steadfast and eventually they stopped calling. I heard through the grapevine later that one of the friends was telling everyone I thought I was better than everyone else. I say, I wasn't better than them, but I was better than the lifestyle and the behavior.

My strength to handle negativity, trials and toxic people, comes from learning about who God says I am and the plans He has for me.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)

 Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” (NIV)

 Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

 Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (NIV)

Never give up!  Keep walking, keep learning, keep praying, keep churning through the valley, and don't pitch your tent there!
