The Cage

Was thinking of those puppies and kittens stuck in their cages last week.  During the station’s Love Out Loud event at the area animal shelters, we walked dogs, play with kittens and generally showed love to the lost and abandoned animals.  While there I took a picture of a kitten reaching out of it’s cage for some love, it really touched my heart and eventually my husband and I did adopt this kitty :-)
This picture got me to thinking though about us and Jesus.  How we are sometimes stuck in our cages and we don’t know how to get out, and if we did where would we go and how would we survive?     The dark cage isn’t a fun place to be, it can be noisy or too quiet, and all the while entirely scary and lonely.
The good news is that Jesus has the key to your cage, He can open the door and let you out.  Maybe that cage is depression, anxiety, drug addiction, low self esteem, an abusive relationship or something else that keeps you trapped.  He is the answer to all things and can be your best friend if you let Him.
Revelation 21:6
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
