Still Time to Become What God Intended
The silent, sinister effects of apathy invade our consciousness, growing in the shadows like corrosion gathering on a battery. We fill out our lives, trying to remain as busy as possible, often in a futile attempt to avoid the emptiness of being stuck in a job, a role, a school, or even a relationship from which we want /need desperately to evolve. Many lack the courage to reposition themselves beyond where they are now. Choosing safety over satiety, we make so many concessions in life until we have anesthetized any hope of limitless thinking or living.
Like an over-sized man in an undersized vehicle we are cramped and restricted in a life that is less than what we need. Many of us hide beneath a public persona, a privately unfulfilled person muffling the midnight screams, “Let me out!”
Is there anyone with the courage to steer the second half of your life beyond the dirt road of dumb decisions onto the massive highway of fresh challenge and invigorating scenery and blazing ideas? I must warn you, it will require change and chance, energy and synergy, timing and tenacity but it can be done.
Sadly, we look for others to give us the very thing we deny ourselves, solace for the past, space for the transformation, and support to find, mine, and produce our best selves.
No hitchhikers you pick up along the way can navigate you to the destination of a productive life. Neither husbands or wives, friends or mentors, can give you that internal permission needed to release you from being who you were, so that you can began the transformation into becoming who you long to be.
Now I know we all have failures, God knows I do. We live with countless things we wish we hadn’t done or said. But think a minute past the, quagmire of the “coulda, woulda shouldas.” If you armed your next choice with the benefits you have gained from your past experiences, building from both good and bad decisions and transformed the guilt into gas, wonder how much further you might be?
Have faith in yourself and in the God who has graced you with a fleeting moment of time. The stomp down gospel good news is you still have time to work a plan, take a class, relocate, redesign or what I call reposition yourself no matter what your age. The greatest asset is time.
Partner with it. Don’t ignore it. It is made exquisite by its rarity, exotic by its uncertainty, and extraordinary by its perpetual diminishment. At this point in your journey are you really happy? At this moment do you feel fulfilled or as I say filled full?
Given that most of your time is absorbed by your job, your friends and sleep. And without the wise use of time all hope of fixing this is gone. I do not want you to die with unfulfilled dreams in your eyes. I ask you only one thing but I hope you give it more than a flippant glance or a casual flirtatious gaze.
Hey friend, “What are you going to do with the time you have left?”
