Who Am I Really?

“Stop determining your worth and value by what other people say. Be determined by what the Word of God (scriptures) says.”
Joyce Meyer
When I read this quote from Joyce Meyer I am reminded of my past.  Reminded of how I used to feel about myself.  Have you ever or do you have a low self-esteem?  I was plagued with it for most of my life, thinking for the majority of my years that I was worth less than nothing, that I couldn’t do anything right and that I would always and forever be a failure.
I had a constant ticker tape of negative words and thoughts streaming through my head day and night, it went something like this. “I haven’t done anything worthwhile, what “so & so” said was right,  I won’t ever amount to anything, why am I such an idiot!”  These are terrible words of destruction that poisoned me for many years.
I rarely let those words of pain enter my thoughts anymore.  My mind is shielded with the truth, the TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD.  It was a turning point in my life when I realized who I really am through Him.  Only He could heal my broken spirit and make me whole.
He can make you, whole and well. Once you let God’s word enter your heart, it brings a healing and a wholeness that you never thought possible.  You will also find to your great delight and amazement that you have joy and peace you never thought could be yours.  Once you let God in, you will never be the same!
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Jeremiah 1:5

“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” Jeremiah 31:3

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

God’s Perfect Plan for You

“I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

“For I know the thoughts I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

“For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world (the whole world including you) through Him might be saved.” John 3:17

God Desires a relationship with you

“For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” Jeremiah 1:5

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:37

“Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:16

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart” Psalm 37:4

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Jesus is the only bridge between God and you

“For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” Romans 3:23

“For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“…but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” Romans 5:11

How to know God

A. Acknowledge:

Your sin, disobedience or apathy has separated you from God.

“For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God” Romans 3:23

B. Believe:

Believe in Jesus and that His shed blood, death and resurrection is the only way to be truly reconciled to God.

“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

C. Confess:

Confess what you believe about Jesus.

“If you confess with your mouth the lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

What’s Next?

Know that you are a NEW person!

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation…” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Invest yourself in your new relationship with God

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Receive all that God has for you

“For all the promises of God in Him is yes, and in Him amen.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
